Boston - May 2018

I did a trip to Boston back in 2011. I never really got around to doing an itinerary. So after a few trusted sources recently went to the city, I decided to rack my brain for some memorable spots and get their take on what to do and see in this beautiful city. So here it is, short and sweet!

Tours

  • The first thing I recommend to anyone is to do a tour of Harvard and MIT. If you happen to go while school is still in, you'll be lucky enough to see inside of the university itself. Either way, I think doing a tour is a must! Some Cambridge and Harvard tours are free. Check it out here.
  • The duck tour. It's a bus that turns into a boat, so you get to see the city from the road and the river. Any tour will give you more information than just walking around on your own. Boston is a very historic city!
  • If you're not into the duck tour, Boston offers free walking tours - Boston City Tour. Make sure to hit the spots along the Freedom Trail.
  • There are also whale watching tours sold right at the wharf. If you decide to do this tour. I recommend taking sea-sickness medication.

What to Do

  • Walk along the Charles River. It's a beautiful spot.
  • If you are a sports fan, catch a game at Fenway Park.
  • Walk around Quincy Market.
  • Do some shopping along Newbury Street and Boylston Streets.
  • Go inside the Boston Public Library. It is beautiful inside.
  • Fan Pier Park has gorgeous views onto the Boston skyline.
  • Skywalk Observatory for a view of the city.

Where to Eat

  • Faneuil Hall Marketplace. This is like a food court with many stalls. Try the clam chowder and a Boston Cream! Boston is generally where you should try to eat as much seafood as possible.
  • Union Oyster House – they claim to be the oldest Pub in Boston. Try the lobster rolls!
  • Alibi Bar - this is a bar that used to be a prison!
  • NoName Restaurant - amazing seafood and right on the pier.
  • Row 34 - a great dinner option
  • Cafe Vittoria - for a coffee and a great selection of pastries. It's in the middle of little Italy, so the coffee has to be good!
  • Cafe Paul - a very Parisian ambience and menu

Where to Stay

  • The first time I stayed at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. The hotel is in an awesome location!
  • Anywhere close to Newbury Street/Boylston Street.
  • Closer to the Wharf is also a great location.
Tip: The subway is very easy to use! Here's a map.
